Kevin Harnage is a 22-year-old entrepreneur who learned about ASP from his uncle, Chad Sutton, who converted his existing swimming pool company, Sweetwater Pools in Athens, GA to an America’s Swimming Pool Company in early 2012. Prior to becoming the operator of the ASP in Valdosta, Kevin attended college at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia and has a background in agriculture and farming. He is excited to bring a new, professional company to the Valdosta community and knew it would be a good fit because of his passion for working outside.
What was your career before franchising?
In 2009, I went to ABAC, which is an agricultural college in Tifton, Georgia and had also worked on a few cotton and peanut farms in South Georgia. This past December, my uncle, Chad Sutton, approached me about this opportunity to start ASP
in Valdosta. I I have always been a hands-on type of person and ASP
gave me the opportunity to go in to business and to still be outside, which I loved.
How did you learn about the brand?
I learned about the brand from my uncle who was in the process of converting his existing pool company to an America’s Swimming Pool Company
in Athens, Georgia. He was looking to expand even further outside of Athens, and we didn’t have any pool companies like ASP
in the Valdosta market, so we knew there was a demand for professional pool servicing.
What was appealing to you about joining a franchise system?
What I enjoyed most about joining a franchise system was the education during ASP’s
Pool School on the industry and the continued support by the corporate team. I never imagined myself in the pool business and ASP
taught me everything there was to know, from servicing pools and repairing parts, to running the books and keeping track of the day-to-day operations.
What makes your business different?
At the ASP
in Valdosta, we want our customers to be 100% happy with our work and we want to be able to guarantee satisfaction. We want to create a strong reputation in the community and make sure that we are doing the best job, every time at every pool. With the professionalism from our uniforms, to the process that ASP
has developed for the customer, we want to establish ourselves as the premiere pool company in the area.
What are your expansion or development plans?
During the first year, we want to try to spread the word to the community as much as possible that we have opened and have a very experienced brand supporting us. I have done a lot of door-to-door marketing and want to raise awareness for all pool owners who may be doing maintenance themselves or are unhappy with the service they currently are receiving. We want to build a solid base of customers for weekly and monthly maintenance and would be really happy to build a strong, positive reputation.
