CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – ASP – America’s Swimming Pool Company is open for business in Albemarle County, Virginia. ASP is a swimming pool service franchise that provides local swimming pool maintenance and cleaning programs, pool inspections, pool equipment diagnostics, pool repairs, pool supplies and pool renovation services. Matt Benefield is the owner and operator of the Albemarle County location, which also serves Augusta and Rockingham Counties and their surrounding areas.

Benefield spent the first 20 years of his life watching his father build and run an auto shop and full-service gas station in a small Ohio town. His father ran the local business for over forty years and provided for a family of eight. Benefield mentioned his father’s career had a profound influence on his views on entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
“When I began seeking business opportunities, I would often reflect on these memories and experiences of my father,” said Benefield. “This is what led my decision to join the pool service industry with ASP. I wanted a business opportunity where I could work with my hands and offer the same kind of small town customer service that is not easy to come by.”
Benefield left his hometown to study economics at DePaul University in Chicago. After spending time in Chicago, he moved to the Charlottesville area about 10 years ago to continue his education at University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. It didn’t take long for Benefield to establish a connection with Charlottesville, so he and his wife decided to call it home. Upon completing his graduate studies, Benefield spent five years serving as the CFO for a public school division before taking a break to help raise their first child.
Quality matters to Benefield, and he works hard to provide the best for his customers. He understands the value of a person’s time and hard-earned money, so his customers can expect exceptional service. Benefield uses his work experiences to grow professionally and personally, while still holding on to the perseverance to overcome any new challenges ahead.
“My philosophy is to treat each customer how I would like to be treated,” said Benefield. “The key is being responsive, polite, transparent, and empathizing with a customer’s needs.”
In his spare time, Benefield enjoys attending University of Virginia basketball games and spending time outdoors with his wife and young daughter. He is actively involved with a local education foundation and his church.
