To pool or not to pool?
As the summer heat gets hotter, this is probably a question you’re asking on a frequent basis. However, before you take the plunge into pool ownership, be sure to keep these five considerations in mind.
Experts suggest that anyone interested in installing a pool should first research at least three different types of inground pools. Similar to the investment of a car or a house, pools come in various shapes, sizes, and prices and each requires a specific amount of care and upkeep to ensure it lasts as long as possible.
Prior to doing your research, make sure you have a general idea – a “wish list” – of what you’d like your pool to look like and what features or amenities you’d like it to have. You can also create a “look book” of pools you like to help you stay on track during your research. (This “look book” also helps your builder gain a better understanding of the design you’re after!)
Put some feelers out about credible pool builders in your area. If you can’t seem to find a seasoned swimming pool construction professional that’s in your vicinity and within your budget, you might want to reconsider the idea of installing a pool. (You don’t want to waste money on an under-constructed pool). Chances are, however, you’ll have friends, neighbors, and colleagues who can offer up credible sources. Before selecting one, consider interviewing each candidate and ask for examples of prior work, references, and a price quote.

Ask Around
Determine Why
Last but not least, be sure you have adequate insurance coverage for owning a pool. Contact your insurance carrier and ask about how installing a swimming pool will affect your homeowner's insurance policy. You can also ask about any additional coverage you might need to ensure that you, your guests, and your property are as safe as possible.
While keeping these considerations in mind during the pool installation process is incredibly important, the most important thing to remember about owning a pool is that you must have fun. Without fun, the stress and pressure of choosing your budget, style, builder, and design will all be for nothing.
